Emirates Airline net profit up by 40% during last fiscal year

Emirates Airlines at Sea-TacThe Middle East’s biggest airline, the Dubai government-owned carrier Emirates saw its profit jump by 40 per cent during the last fiscal year.

It was announced today that it earned 4.56 billion dirhams (US$1.24 billion) compared with the 3.25 billion dirhams (US$885.6 million) earned a year earlier.

The airline has attributed its performance to rapid fleet expansion and to a drop in the price of fuel.
