
After
it spewed an ash plume cloud as high as 250 metres, spawned by
a phreatic eruption on Wednesday night, the alert status of the Mount
Bulusan volcano in Sorsogon in southern Luzon has been raised from
normal to Alert Level 1 by The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and
Seismology (Phivolcs).
The volcano’s hydro-thermal abnormalities beneath the volcano might
lead to more steam-driven or phreatic eruptions in the coming days due
to which the agency had to raise the volcano’s level to 1 from normal,
said Ed Laguerta, the Phivolcs resident volcanologist.
