Organized to respond to the impact of the EU-South Korea free trade agreement that came into effect in July of this year, the activities succeeded in securing commitments from a number of top-flight clothing-makers.
Between Oct. 11 and Dec. 16, the TTF invited representatives of eight brand name clothing companies from Canada, India, Spain, Switzerland and the U.S., such as The North Face, Patagonia and Arc’teryx, to come to Taiwan for procurement visits. A total of 76 one-one-one trade meetings were held, with 49 Taiwanese textile enterprises resulting in an estimated US$8.63 million in orders, according to the federation.
Representatives lauded the Taiwan’s functional and eco-friendly textile products, and accepted invitations to visit the island next year for the Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show, during which the federation said it would arrange more procurement meetings.
