Tourism Day, 27th September, sought to promote awareness within the
international community of the social, cultural, political and economic
importance of tourism. In effect, the staging of Tourism Day will
coincide in Spain with the preparations for the International Tourism
Trade Fair, FITUR 2014, the event organised by IFEMA. This trade fair
constitutes one of the largest trade showcases for the world tourist
industry and a flagship event for tourism worldwide, one that is due to
open the international trade fair calendar for the industry between 22nd
