Altogether five fishing boats with a total of 171 people aboard were caught by Typhoon Wutip, the 21st of the season. At least 70 people are missing after Typhoon Wutip sank two Chinese fishing boats in the South China Sea. All three boats that sank when caught in Typhoon Wutip near the Xisha Islands Sunday afternoon were from Guangdong province in southern China. Rescuers had pulled 14 survivors from the water.
