Marrakech has an even bigger climate problem than the viral tale of underground cooling passages. There is not a single proven piece of official evidence of the installation of a city-wide system of underground water-misting and geothermal cooling in the Medina of Marrakech by the Marrakech-Safi Regional Council as of 2 October 2026.
