On the event of World Tourism Day 2021, with a mission to boost Raigad tourism, Aditi Tatkare, the district guardian minister, declared Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher as the bird of this district. This unique chook and its magnificence and the fact that it comes to the Konkan belt, mainly in Raigad with the starting of monsoon, made it the district chook of Raigad.
