Unexpected staff absences at Sydney Airport lead to flights being delayed and cancelled

Due to a sudden shortage of air traffic controllers, several flights would be delayed and cancelled at the Sydney Airport leading to long waits. Airservices Australia said: “We had a number of unexpected staff absences in the Sydney Tower today.”  At least 14 Jetstar flights have been cancelled, as well as seven Qantas services.
