Songkran 2017 – A huge hit as Thai Tourism earned billions

In contrast to the last year, the total economic impact of spending during Songkran 2017 holiday was 45.428 billion Baht (US$1.3 billion), as confirmed by the Thailand Ministry of Tourism and Sports. It was a 14.40 percent increase over the last year. During the Thai New Year period, several destinations witnessed noticeable growth in tourism sector.
