The northeastern state of Assam, India was jolted by an earthquake of 5.6 magnitude today at around 6.40 am.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the epicentre of the earthquake was 23 km north of Basugaon, Assam.
Tremors were felt as far as Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and the eastern part of India.
