Why annual profit slipped by 10% for Heathrow in 2014 despite being the busiest year?

As the time for decision approaches, Heathrow Airport is making its case clear for expansion plans. The west London airport announced a 10% fall in annual operational profit although it served a record number of passengers in 2014.

Heathrow is “full” as the London hub airport witnessed its busiest year ever, with 73.4 million passengers served, up 1.4% but no growth in flights. The reason for the lack of flight growth was because the airport was at full capacity.
