Why annual profit slipped by 10% for Heathrow in 2014 despite being the busiest year?

Heathrow trafficAs the time for decision approaches, Heathrow Airport is making its case clear for expansion plans. The west London airport announced a 10% fall in annual operational profit although it served a record number of passengers in 2014.

Heathrow is “full” as the London hub airport witnessed its busiest year ever, with 73.4 million passengers served, up 1.4% but no growth in flights. The reason for the lack of flight growth was because the airport was at full capacity.
