New Orleans tops weekly hotel increases as per STR survey

New Orleans, Louisiana, reported the largest increases in all three key performance metrics during the week of 27 November-3 December 2011, according to data from STR. The market’s occupancy rose 14.4% to 61.9%, its average daily rate was up 17.5% to US$128.38, and its revenue per available room increased 34.4% to US$79.47.

Overall, the U.S. hotel industry’s occupancy rose 2.7% to 51 percent, its ADR increased 2.7% to US$99.42 and its RevPAR finished the week with an increase of 5.4% to US$50.71. Among the top 25 markets, three other than New Orleans achieved double-digit occupancy increases: Tampa-St. Petersburg, Florida (+13.1% to 55%); Houston, Texas (+12.6% to 57%); and Oahu Island, Hawaii (+10.6% to 77.9%). Phoenix, Arizona, fell 6.8% in occupancy to 50.6%, reporting the largest decrease in that metric.
