Adelaide Convention Centre Home to New Fringe Hub: The Big Slapple

The Big Slapple draws its inspiration from the mood of the New York club scene with a blend of funky indoor and outdoor venues including the Blue Note Club, Apollo Theatre, 48 Lounge and Create and Combine – an art exhibition featuring street, tattoo and abstract art. The Adelaide Convention Centre Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said the Riverbank will come alive with cabaret, comedy, live music, art and wine.

Regattas Bistro + Bar will be transformed into The Blue Note Club with free music and entertainment along with public art displays and one of Adelaide’s biggest outdoor screens. Food and drink stalls selling New York style street food and a licensed bar will be set up on the lawns outside. The Blue Note Club will be serving Slapple Cider, created by The Hills Cider Co from the Adelaide Hills, and its signature cocktail – The Slappletini. Free entertainment at the Blue Note Club will include a range of bands, DJ’s, aerosol art “battles”, interactive art displays and a large video screen to give the venue a “Times Square” feel.
